When you choose the right song, you also can select which part of a song you want to feature.
Now you’re ready for the next step
Time to set up your timer and 3-2-1 countdown. For a video where you need both your hands, a hands-free option is a great way to do that. Once you press record, you’ll see a 3-2-1 countdown, before recording begins for the amount of time you selected. Instagram’s effects gallery is also available in Reels, so feel free to experiment. Oh, you want to speed up or slow down your video? Instagram has an option for that too!
Once we explained all this, get ready to film your reel!
Recording your Reels will feel familiar to you, it is almost exactly how you would record a video for Instagram Stories. Just press and hold the capture button. You can add effects before or after filming. Similar to Boomerang mode, you can scroll across to apply effects or AR filters to your Instagram Reels video. You can choose to use any previously saved filters or you can scroll to the end and tap “Browse Effects”.
Once you’re happy with the result, you can use the draw and text tools and select from many Instagram Stickers. For a more creative video, you have the option to select at what points in your video you want your text to appear. For example, if you want the text to appear at just the beginning of your reel, set the slider so that it only covers the first few seconds of the video.
Aaand click SHARE!
When you share your Instagram Reel, you can add a caption and hashtags, edit the video thumbnail (including adding a cover from your camera roll), tag your friends, and select where you want it to be shared. If you have a private account: Reels will monitor your privacy settings on Instagram. You can share to feed so that only your followers can see your Reel. Other people cannot use the original audio in your video, and your Reels cannot be shared with others. For you who have a public account, if you decide to share your Reel to a dedicated space in Explore, there is a great chance to be seen and discovered by the wider Instagram community.
